Alpbach

Overview

Ski Austria! A classic Austrian Tyrolean resort, Alpbach is a renowned picturesque winter wonderland. Voted 'Austria's prettiest village' in 1983, the traditional resort still retains all of its chocolate box charm despite its expansion over recent years. Primarily a beginners' and intermediates' resort, there's a variety of tree-lined runs. A good resort for non-skiers, it benefits from 20kms of winter paths and excursions to Innsbruck or Rattenburg.

Skiing in Alpbach

The village is an ideal beginners’ ski resort. Together with the authentic alpine atmosphere, the nursery slopes here contribute to beginners having a full fun-filled time in the mountains on  their skiing holiday. The three separate nursery areas are at village level, based under Wiedersberger and slightly separate from the main pistes. There are plenty of red runs for the moderate-intermediate to be kept busy for a week-long holiday. One of the best and most challenging routes, the Gmahkopf can be found at the top of the gondola running down from Inneralpbach. There are two decent blacks for the experts and some good off-piste routes. A key plus point of Alpbach is that the skiing area is part of the Kitzbuheler Ski Pass, which grants any skier access to 680kms of runs and 260 ski lifts.

Snowboarding in Alpbach

Snowboarding in Alpbach is all about the beginner-intermediate freeriding terrain. There is no park or half-pipe, however you may find the odd hit dotted around the mountain.

Accommodation in Alpbach

Traditional ski chalets and hotels are perfect for families looking for Austrian alpine skiing holidays. Eclipse Ski’s hot tip is to take a horse-drawn sleigh ride to Rossmoos Inn for some traditional spicy wine Glühwein. The village is relaxed with restaurants, swimming and skating. Accommodation here is normally supplied by the larger tour operators, meaning it can be easy enough to find a cheap ski deal. Book your exciting ski holiday today!
