One of the largest interconnected ski areas in the world, the Austrian Ski Welt circuit encompasses Brixem im Thale, Ellmau, Going, Itter, Scheffau, Soll, Westendorf and Hopfgarten. Popular for group, family and couple skiing holidays, the affordable 'Ski Welt' ski area was awarded the title of 'Best Ski Resort in the World' out of 70 ski resorts by Ski Resort International Service International.
The Ski Welt ski circuit has 279kms of pistes to whizz around on, served by 92 ski lifts covering the area ski altitude between 620m to 1825m. Terrain is varied, from wide-open bowls to picturesque tree-lined runs. For snowboarding holidays, there are 2 snow and terrain parks to turn tricks on.
Bursting with Austrian charm, all of the 9 ski villages are linked by the regular ski bus, with Soll being the big name resort of the bunch. It’s the liveliest option, perfect for group ski holidays. Ellmau and Sheffau have an alpine charm character, perfect for family skiing holidays, Westendorf is the most relaxed option. The ski area has 70 ski huts, restaurants and bars on the mountain.
Experts will find a small number of challenging pisted black runs, and travel further afield to find the off-piste options. It’s a skiing paradise for beginners and intermediates, with some of the best slopes rated on the Hopfgarten side.
