La Tania
Overview
The newest resort in the Alps, La Tania was purpose built for the spectators attending the 1992 Albertville Winter Olympics. Low-key value for money skiing holidays, the pretty village grants access to the world-class Three Valleys skiing area. Perfect for those looking for a bargain family or couple's skiing holiday, it's the hidden gem of the Alps.
Skiing in La Tania
There are some great long tree-lined runs from Courchevel down into La Tania. The La Tania resort is nestled in trees between Meribel and Courchevel with access to over 600km of downhill skiing, skiing is spread over 502 pistes served by 200 ski lifts. The Three Valleys skiing area is arguably the best skiing area in the world. Beginners are well catered for with gentle nursery slopes and a free lift situated right in the centre of the village. Intermediate skiers couldn’t be better located with access to the local slopes of La Tania combined with Meribel, Courchevel and Val Thorens. Advanced skiers will have access to over 28 black runs and a wealth of off-piste opportunities. The various runs back to La Tania present picturesque tree-lined runs galore for you to finish a hard day’s skiing on.
Snowboarding in La Tania
Snowboarders won’t be disappointed in this snow paradise either. You won’t have to travel too far too far to spin some tricks as the Meribel or La Tania-Courchevel skiing area is home to an excellent boardpark for freestylers. There are also half pipes, steeps and drops scattered across the Three Valleys skiing area. Beware of the long flat over to Courchevel though as you might have to walk a little. If you fancy a decent long freeride then head to the tree-lined blue Folyeres, or the Morette Blanche red.
Accommodation in La Tania
The resort has been built in a French alpine wooden clad style and is quieter than neighbouring Meribel. Consisting mainly of apartments, but a couple of hotels to choose from, including one decent one. There are a couple of good bars here, but the après is at the quieter end of the scale. The cosy layout is combined with a relaxed and friendly atmosphere and perfect for family skiing holidays. It's a good place to escape the Brits of Meribel, yet enjoy the Three Valleys.
