Steamboat
Overview
Indulge in the authentic USA-style ski holiday experience in Steamboat! Split into two areas, the ski area and resort base act as one, and five minutes down the road is the classic cowboy town Steamboat Springs. The slopes here are varied and challenging and it's known as 'ski town USA' as it is the home to so many Olympian skiers. Steamboat actually coined (and copyrighted) the term 'champagne powder' as it has so much of the stuff! The ski village has a good range of bars and restaurants, all with that unique wild-west atmosphere. Check out our ski deals for Steamboat!
Skiing in Steamboat
The ski resort is owned by Intrawest, the company behind the creation of Whistler and other major North American ski resorts. It’s great for family skiing holidays as kids ski free! Head to the top of Mt Warner, you can see a 360° breathtaking view of the surrounding mountain ranges. Spread over 5 peaks, Mt Warner, Sunshine Peak, Storm Peak, Thunderhead Peak and Christie Peak, there are 2,939 acres of permitted terrain for all levels and abilities. Expanding more than 40% over recent years, the skiing here is a good size. Steamboat boasts an excellent ski and snowboard school. The beginners’ area can be found by Christie base, and Sunshine Peak is perfect for those with a little more confidence. One of the best runs for intermediates is the long cruiser from Storm Peak called Buddy’s Run. Experts can bump down a series of mogul fields called the BMT all day if that’s their thing. NASTAR race clinics are held daily, including video analysis and races. There are ample exciting black runs here for the advanced skier.
Snowboarding in Steamboat

It’s a free riding paradise of deep soft powder and optional backcountry boarding accessed by snowcat (also available for skiers). Freestylers will find big air down at the largest terrain park in North America, the Maverick Terrain Park on Big Meadow.
