The age-old resort of Winter Park is the little-known gem of Colorado, just 67 miles away from Denver. The destination is ideal if you're just looking for a week long skiing holiday to the US. Winter Park benefits from minimal crowds on the slopes and a super-efficient high-speed lift system. Found at the base of Berthoud Pass, the skiing area is split into 3 separate mountains. Skiing in Winter Park

With 3,078 acres of pistes, the skiing area is vast. There are runs for all abilities branching out from the base level. Beginners are blessed with Groswold’s Discovery Park, a big dedicated fenced off area. Intermediates have motorway cruisers covering all three mountains, pistes Cranmer and Mary Jane are popular favourites. Expert skiers will probably find their favourite slopes amongst the blacks on Mary Jane ski area, a combination of steeps, deeps and giant moguls. The second main tough area is Vasquez Cirque which includes double black diamond descents, and the toughest run of them all, Hole in the Wall, will get your heart racing. The ski school here offers tuition for alpine, freestyle and freeride skiing if you want to take it to the next level.

Snowboarding in Winter Park

Winter Park features Snoasis, a starter terrain park for beginner snow boarders which has jumps and rails on a smaller scale to normal. For the intermediates Dog Patch terrain park can be found on Eskimo Express mountain, and Dark Territory on Rail Yard mountain has evolved in recent years for the advanced. The mountains here have a great freeriding gradient and powdery snow.
