Overview

At the heart of the Gastein Valley, Bad Hofgastein is neighbours with traditional spa town Bad Gastein and Dorfgastein. One single ski pass gives you access to the entire Gastein Valley ski area, which encompasses 5 different skiing areas. Lift-linked only with Bad Gastein, together they make up the largest connected skiing area and one of the largest in Austria. It's easy to reach the other areas by bus. A pretty market town has a pedestrianised centre, which appeals to families booking group ski holidays.

Skiing in Bad Hofgastein

Bad Hofgastein is part of the Gastein ski area and the resort is linked to previously mentioned Bad Gastein, as well as Dorfgastein, Graukogel and Sportgastein, opening up a total of 208 individual pistes. Skiing holidays here provide a wide choice for beginners through to expert ability level skiers, perfect for group ski holidays. Beginners will need to hop on a short bus ride to the Angertal area for the best practise slopes. Intermediates can take advantage of the endless miles of opportunities for swooping round the mountain, particularly the 7 mile run. Advanced skiers can find the blacks towards Stubnerkogel and the best off-piste runs down from Kreuzkogel.

The snowpark and pipe of the skiing area are based in the Stubnermulde. The ski area hosts excting world cup boarding events annually. The freeriding area here is a decent size, giving boarders a varied and decent ride.

At the heart of the resort lies the focal point of the village, a 500 year old church. Drawing skiers for its spas as much as its slopes, there are thermal healing pools hidden in the mountains for soothing those post-skiing aches.
