Kirchberg
Overview
The large picturesque village is centred around a large church and shares its skiing area with neighbouring famous Kitzbuhel, which is just 6km down the road. Kirchberg has ever-increasing popularity with British skiers, but has for a long time been well loved as a cheaper option for accessing this ski area. The pretty central square has a wide choice of bars and restaurants, making it popular for family ski packages, group ski holidays, couples and singles.
Skiing in Kirchberg
There is a beginner area to the Gaisberg side of the town, with the main lifts on the other. The Skirast gondola gives the best skiing access, taking you to the speedy chair lifts which are quicker than the slow lifts on the alternative Maierl side. The nursery lifts and other practice lifts in the valley operate free with charge, perfect for beginner skiing holidays. The Kitzbuheler Alpen is a fantastic area for intermediates, it encompasses a total of 7 different skiing areas! The area’s unique Ski Safari route covers 35km of pistes, 15km on lifts and 6000 vertical metres as you travel across the area.
The Kitzbuhel Ski Pass gives access over to Jochburg and Pass Thun with one of the longest and highest gondola links in the world. You can also take the Ki-west gondola over to Westendorf to ski the giant Ski Welt area. For experts, the lifts create easy access to the world-famous exciting Hahnenkamm downhill run just at the back of the mountain from Kirchberg. Mountain guides can take you to the best powder spots, with the best moguls over on Ehrenbachhohe.
Snowboarding in Kirchberg
The snowboarding park can be found over on Kitzbuhel Horn area, it has two half pipes, a quarter pipe, a large table jump and a sprint slalom course. The large skiing area is also great for freeriding, with plenty of options for every level of boarder.
