Kicking Horse

Overview

The champagne powder base grants easy access to some adventurous intermediate and advanced terrain. Mid-way through a big development programme, Kicking Horse is on track to be the next super-resort of Canada. The village has quality skiing holiday accommodation to cater for all family skiing packages and group ski holidays.

Skiing in Kicking Horse

The north-east facing slopes create some of the best inbound trails of Canada. The snow retention here is excellent due to perfect conditions of high-level moisture, sun, temperature and low-level dry air. More beginner runs have recently been added but the runs are mostly orientated towards intermediate and advanced levels. Confident beginner level skiers and up will love the 10km run down from the Golden Eagle Express Gondola. A hotspot for heli-skiers, Kicking Horse is well known for its fantastic heli-skiing clinics.

Snowboarding in Kicking Horse

One of the top powder resorts in the world, the resort is extremely boarder friendly. The majority of the slopes have the steepness ideal for freeriding around on. With plenty of wide open faces, slopes Porcupine, Stairway to Heaven and the Fenz Bowl are good for boarding. There is no freestyle park, but the mountain has good hits and steeps, and is a big heli-boarding destination.

Accommodation in Kicking Horse

Eclipse Ski has ski travel deals to suit family or group skiing needs. Kicking Horse is very close to neighbouring town Golden. There are a few bars in Kicking Horse, try the posh nosh at the Eagle Eye Restaurant at the top of the main gondola for something special. There is a great little Scottish pub in the Highlands Lodge worth a visit. In addition, Golden has a livelier après scene with lots of dancing in bars.
