Whistler

Overview

The cream of the crop of top skiing holiday destinations in Canada and even the world, coupled with Blackcomb, together they offer the biggest skiing area in North America. The iconic ski holiday resort has recently undergone massive investment to enhance its already world-class lift system and is now linked to Blackcomb with a peak-to-peak Gondola. The attractive modern village staged the 2010 Olympics with Vancouver, and makes a worthy choice for a post-Olympics ski holiday to Canada.

Skiing in Whistler

From the village, two main gondolas go up, one up Whistler Mountain, the other up Blackcomb Mountain. Last winter a new cable car linking the peaks of the two mountains was installed, it's one of the longest single span cable cars in the world. There is also direct piste access from the Whistler Creekside area. The award winning lift system ensures short queues so that you can be whizzed back up the mountain in a jiffy. The skiing area has over a dozen alpine bowls, including 3 with glaciers. Recommended times to go are the coldest, but February here isn’t as busy as in Europe. The skiing terrain has everything you could possibly wish for on a mixed ability ski holiday to Whistler. With a choice of steep powder chutes, challenging mogul fields, picturesque tree-lined runs and endless perfectly groomed pistes. Dedicated learner trails mean that beginners will still be able to catch the gondola up the mountain and cruise down some easy greens for a fun and family – friendly ski package. Intermediates will be positively beaming as they glide down the 55% of blue and red idyllic terrain especially made for them. Ever wanted to feel like you’re in a Hollywood movie? Why not try heli-skiing to release the James Bond or Lara Croft from within!

Snowboarding in Whistler

Snowboarding package holidays to Whistler are some of the best experiences in the world. The mountain used to produce a double sided lift map. One side showing the mountain runs for skiers, the other, showing where is best for boarders. The riding on these sensational mountains is enough to make any snowboarder reel with excitement in anticipation of a trip to Whistler. The snow is damp and heavy here as it is close to the Pacific. The snow-boarder friendly trails mean you can ride here for years before tiring of the mountains. Freestylers need to try out the 2 terrain parks or super-half pipes. The pristine terrain makes Whistler deservedly highly rated.

Accommodation in Whistler

Christmas or Easter skiing holidays can be a little crowded, so we recommend taking your skiing holiday in early December or January. The apres-ski is varied and extensive given the large village base area. There is an extensive range of non-skiing options, including swimming pools, bowling, tennis and of course trips to Vancouver where you drive down the “Sea to Sky Highway”.Have a look at our latest Whistler skiing holidays so that you can book the skiing holiday of a lifetime to Whistler.
