Les Deux Alpes

Overview

One of France's oldest and most prestigious resorts, Les Deux Alpes has challenging off-piste routes, and slopes ideal for beginners, experts and those looking to party. The lively ski resort has a welcoming and friendly atmosphere with an excellent variety of attractive shops, boutiques, lively bars and charming restaurants. The village is situated in the historical Dauphine region, boasting high altitude ski runs at one of Europe's highest ski resorts.

Skiing in Les Deux Alpes

With a southern location, it has long sunny days at the end of the season. Les Deux Alpes sits alongside off-piste playground La Grave to form the world-class area encompassing 220km of pisted ski runs spread across 75 individual pisted runs. Les Deux Alpes is only linked to La Grave by lifts, nowhere else. Unfortunately, there are no buses from here to Alpe d’Huez nor Serre Chevalier, however you can get to Alpe d’Huez by helicopter. The resort is very popular for British skiing holidays throughout the season due to its high altitude and snow sure slopes. Beginners are well catered for with the reverse gradient in Les Duex Alpes - beginner slopes at the top of the mountain offer beginners the opportunity to ski with the breathtaking scenery the resort has to offer. It’s an intermediates paradise with the vast collection of runs to cruise around the Glacier du Mont Lans. The lift pass here allows you to ski Serre Chevalier for one of the days if you want to venture to another area. One hot tip is to start at the top of one of Europe's highest runs, the run down from the glacier at 3621m, and the continue the descent down the long impressive trail to the bottom at 1300m. Expert skiers will find the off-piste trail through to La Grave the main highlight to satisfy their daredevil requirements!

Snowboarding in Les Deux Alpes

Snowboarding in Les Deux Alpes is increasingly popular. The pistes are very rider-friendly with a notable terrain park with big, wide open slopes. There is also a border cross and board park with a good-sized half-pipe to ride on.

Les Deux Alpes is a great choice for family ski holidays. A sectioned-off sledging area, trampoline, ice skating rink, heated outdoor swimming pool, Turkish baths, cinema, sports complex and bowling facilities present lots of options to entertain the children and provide plenty to do whilst off the slopes.

With a free ski bus around the ski resort and its own radio station, Radio 2 Alpes (96.2 FM), Les Deux Alpes is a great choice for your ski holiday.
