Les Gets

Overview

The pretty and charming farming village has a very French chalet-style feeling. It has good local skiing and access to the one of the largest skiing areas on the planet, the Portes du Soleil. The Savoyard charm makes Les Gets an ideal family skiing holiday destination.

Skiing in Les Gets

Sharing its pretty-tree lined slopes with Morzine, the local slopes offer areas of blues and reds for the beginner-intermediate skier or boarder. You can purchase a local ski pass which covers the tree-lined runs of Les Gets, Nyon and Le Pleney. Les Gets isn’t necessarily the best resort for accessing the Portes du Soleil, it’s easy to catch the bus to the gondola at Les Prodains which will take you straight into Avoriaz. Experts can take advantage of the 650km of pisted runs with the Portes du Soleil lift pass. The area encompasses a dozen, mostly lift-linked skiing resorts including Abondance, Avoriaz, Chatel, Champery, Torgan and Morzine with varied terrain. The famous Swiss Wall of monster moguls which sits on the French-Swiss border has a bumpy ride down, only brave skiers will want to take on the challenge and many just take the chairlift back to the bottom.

Snowboarding in Les Gets

The area has sweeping wide open blue runs with lots of interesting blue and red runs. The local beginner-intermediate terrain park has small hits, steeps and rails to spin some tricks. Avoriaz has one of the biggest and best terrain parks in Europe, so it’s a mecca for freestylers and worth the trip across the skiing area.

Accommodation in Les Gets

Only 50kms from Geneva airport, Les Gets is popular for weekend ski breaks. Well located as one of the shortest drives for the keen British skier, many chose to catch the ferry and self-drive through France. The charming village and its slopes are quieter than other Portes du Soleil villages. The resort has a good selection of chalets and hotels, so have a look at our Eclipse Ski top ski deals.
