Tignes
Overview
Tignes is a top ski resort nestled high in the Savoie French Alps boasting year-round skiing and snowboarding. With consistently excellent snow conditions to whiz around the mountain on, it's one of Europe's highest resorts situated at 2,100m above sea level. The purpose built resort is surrounded by a giant bowl that is ideal for skiing around the exciting Grande Motte glacier.
There is a choice of five main villages for your Tignes skiing holiday. Val Claret is ideal for group ski holidays as it’s the largest and liveliest, situated at 2,300m at the foot of the Grande Motte funicular. As one of the highest resorts in Europe, it serves as a base for summer and winter skiing holidays. Located on the edge of the lake, Tignes Le Lac offers itself as a good choice for learning to ski or snowboard as it has a selection of beginner slopes alongside its intermediate and advanced piste runs. There is a good selection of terrain with steep moguls at Toviere and challenging long runs such as La Sache. Val Claret and Le Lac have the liveliest après ski activities, or neighbouring Val D’Isere is world-famous for its nightlife scene. The modern Tignes Le Lavachet is fairly quiet yet charming and perfect for family ski holidays. Tignes also has two smaller villages, Les Boisses and Les Brevieres situated at heights of 1500m and 1850m respectively. There is a new indoor swimming pool which has just opened which has views over the lake.

The extensive lift system gives 300km of pisted skiing and a variety of off-piste opportunities if you’re feeling adventurous on the mountain.
Beginners will benefit from five free lifts and therefore will have FREE skiing for the first few days as they won’t need to buy a lift pass. Once confidence has grown, there is a multitude of over 100 blue and red runs collectively to sweep down the slopes on!
The ski area is vast and varied, and is highly rated for having some of the most challenging runs in Europe for intermediate and advanced skiers at the highest points.
