Overview
Large fashionable Bardonecchia is conveniently situated in a sunny basin on the French-Italian border. One of Italy's oldest resorts, the working town has well laid out slopes which attract returning keen skiers every year. It has 100kms of local pistes, plus it acts as an excellent base as you can easily drive to the Three Valleys or Milky Way skiing areas, opening up a huge potential for some serious skiing. Skiing in Bardonecchia
The basins of the Piedmont region has its skiing spread over 2 areas, Jafferau and Campo Smith with skiing up to 2800m. They are on opposite sides of the town and linked by bus. The slopes for beginners are located at the bottom of Campo Smith and Melezet. The bulk of the slopes are for intermediates, with a great variety of terrain from big wide cruisers to picturesque tree-lined trails. Jafferau has the most challenging terrain for experts, seek the bumps in the treeless bowl or pay extra and tour the Three Valleys or Milky Way circuit.
Snowboarding in Bardonecchia
Together with the combined slalom events, Bardonecchia played host to the snowboarding events of the Turin Winter Olympics. It has now become a top snowboarding resort; featuring a fantastic bordercross, a half pipe and natural hits to jump off.
