La Thuile

Overview

Located in the Aosta Valley, traditional Italian village La Thuile is on the French-Italian border. Still fairly undiscovered and unspoilt, the slopes of La Thuile are quiet and suitable for mixed ability group skiing holidays. Offering one of the few direct links over to France, La Thuile coupled with La Rosiere makes up the Espace San Bernando skiing area. The classic alpine skiing resort is perfect for family ski holidays or those seeking a bargain skiing holiday.

Skiing in La Thuile

With north facing slopes and a close proximity to the Mont Blanc, the snow record here is excellent. It’s a good all rounder resort for skiing holidays for mixed ability groups as it has trails to keep everyone happy. There are a few nursery slopes beside the village for beginners to gain confidence on before going up the mountain on the resort’s super-speedy gondola. Intermediates will like the nice long blue and red runs that come down from peaks Le Belvedere and Chaz Dura; some of these will take you over to French resort La Rosiere. Expert skiers have access to 12 black runs and untouched off-piste powder fields for some serious skiing. One main thing to bear in mind about skiing in La Thuile is the grading of the slopes is slightly off, for example reds should be blues and blue runs can have some pesky uphill parts.

Snowboarding in La Thuile

Snowboarding in La Thuile you will find the slopes to be wide and flat. Good blacks for boarders include the tree-lined Diretta, and the best intermediate runs can be found over towards La Rosiere. Boarders beware of the button lift to get back over to La Thuile, it’s a bit of a long one.

Accommodation in La Thuile

Accommodation in La Thuile mainly consists of apartments. The Planibel complex is great for family skiing holidays. A mixture of old and new in style, it offers skiing holiday accommodation for all budgets. La Thuile is the ideal resort for families looking for a friendly resort, or groups looking for a cheap ski deal. There are a few decent bars to party in if you are looking to really let your hair down. Check out Eclipse Ski’s latest ski deals for your exciting ski holiday!
