Sestriere
Overview
The high altitude grants top-class snow conditions for skiing holidays, making it more snow-secure than its neighbours and a popular choice for exploring the Milky Way ski area. Perfectly positioned on a sunny plateau, the Italian ski resort Sestriere was the first purpose-built centre of the Alps!
Skiing in Sestriere
The central part of Sestriere’s pisted trails stretch across to Sauze d’Oulx, with easy connections to Sansicario, Cesana and Claviere and over to French ski resort Montgenevre.
Beginners will find ample nursery slopes where they can flourish on the snow. Intermediates should try the two main local areas Banchetta and Sises. As the highest resort on the Milky Way circuit, there are plenty of opportunities to do some high mileage skiing daily in this intermediates paradise.
Varied terrain such as moguls and big open long hair-raising runs to swoop down mean Sestriere doesn’t disappoint expert skiers. Keen adventurous skiers will be attracted to the Milky Way’s excellent off-piste and exciting heli-skiing.
Snowboarding in Sestriere
There is great potential for a snowboarding holiday in Sestriere. Freeriders should expect nothing but top quality pisted runs and the best off-piste powder bowls. Carvers will have endless hours of fun on the parks and natural hits here.
