Villars

Overview

Perched on a sunny plateau in the Vaudoises Alps, classic skiing resort Villars overlooks the Rhone Valley with some of the most spectacular scenery in the Alps. Full of Swiss ski chalets, the small town Villars has an excellent range of shops, bars and restaurants. The pretty traditional resort features an old railway station and appeals to families for its alpine charm and short transfer from Geneva.

 

Skiing in Villars

Villars is part of the Glacier-Alpes Vaudoises ski area and has lift-linked access to 125km of downhill slopes. Other Glacier-Alpes ski resorts include Anzere, Chateau d’Oex, Gstaad, Les Diablerets and Leysin. With over half of the 67 pisted runs rated easy, and not one, but two ski schools, Villars is essentially a resort for beginner skiers. Despite this, intermediates still have plenty of long runs to keep them occupied and advanced skiers looking for mileage and more blacks can purchase the Alpes Vaudoises lift pass which covers 220kms.

Snowboarding on Villars

If you’re going snowboarding in Villars, you will find the park and half-pipe split between Bretaye and Les Chaux. Villars’ snowboarding is best for carvers with its gentle blue runs and some decent steep black runs. Boarders beware, there are lots of drag lifts in Villars for you to tackle.
