With the resort itself situated above 1,500m, the snow here is guaranteed throughout the skiing holiday season. With 313km of downhill skiing, the 59 individual pistes are served by 40 ski lifts including an underground funicular. You can even ski over the border to Italian neighbours Cervinia and Valtournenche. The choice here is immense and perfect for mixed snowboarding and skiing holiday groups. Beginners will find gentle cruising runs near and around the village. Intermediate and advanced skiers are looked after the most, with Zermatt boasting world-class off-piste and the ever-popular heli-skiing.

Snowboarding in Zermatt

Snowboarding in Zermatt you’ll find excellent opportunities to freetyle and freeride, all centred around one amazing resort. The off-piste powder here provides plenty to rip it up on. It’s a rarity throughout the world, but you can snowboard in Zermatt all year round! The glacier stays open with 22km of piste, a decent board-park and half-pipe.

Apres in Zermatt

Après in Zermatt is varied and lively. There are quiet bars to kick back and relax, or buzzing nightclubs that stay open until the small hours of the morning if you fancy letting your hair down. Incredible mountain restaurants take full advantage of the best views of the Matterhorn, which is a staggering 4,000m high with 30 peaks. Eclipse Ski loves that despite this picture postcard resort being car-free, it does have what can only be described as ‘mountain golf buggies’ whizzing around if you feel like you need some wheels. The ski chalets in this attractive Swiss ski holiday resort are also blessed with phenomenal views so check out our ski deals for chalets in Zermatt.
