Zermatt Group Skiing Holidays

Sitting in the shadows of the iconic Matterhorn mountain, is the spectacular skiing resort Zermatt. With its breathtaking scenery and lively party scene, the high-altitude historic resort boasts a sophisticated lift system and vast skiing areas with a variety of well-maintained pistes, making skiing holidays to Zermatt extremely desirable.

With the resort itself situated above 1,500m, the snow here is guaranteed throughout the skiing holiday season. With 360km of downhill skiing, the 59 individual pistes are served by 40 ski lifts. The skiing is lift linked across three main skiing areas, the Sunnegga, Gornergrat and Glacier Paradise. The lift pass price is one of the most expensive in Europe, however you definitely get your money’s worth, the lift system here is made up of funiculars, trains, arial cable cars, bubbles and chairlifts. You can even ski over the border to Italian neighbour Cervinia and Valtournenche. The choice here is immense and perfect for group ski holidays. Beginners will find gentle cruising runs near over the Sunnegga area and can master their skills in the Wolli Park – Wolli is the sheep mascot for the resort. The 22km glacier runs are open all year round here.

Snowboarding in Zermatt you’ll find excellent opportunities to freetyle and freeride, all centred around one amazing resort. The off-piste powder here provides plenty to rip it up on. Once the season has started Zermatt create a large fun park full of opportunities to catch big air, or just relax looking at the park from the cool ‘Ice Bar’ which has Zermatt’s best hot dogs.

Après in Zermatt is varied and lively. The Hennu Stahl is the most popular apres ski bar on the mountain which can be found on run no. 50. ALternatively Paperla in resort has live music and fun atmosphere. For later fun, there are several buzzing nightclubs that stay open until the small hours of the morning, including Broken, Schnee and Vernasage if you fancy letting your hair down. Known for its world-class incredible mountain restaurants, including Chez Vrony, they take full advantage of the best views of the Matterhorn.

Despite this picture postcard resort being car-free, Zermatt does have what can only be described as ‘mountain golf buggies’ whizzing around.
