Skiing In Sweden

Skiing in Sweden

If you want stunning scenery, world-class ski facilities, and a relaxing atmosphere from your ski vacation, Sweden is for you. The country is an excellent choice for a relaxing getaway on the slopes without compromising efficiency, as it has fewer visitors than many of the other best ski courses in Europe.

Sweden’s most popular ski resorts
Are and Vemdalen are the country’s two most popular ski resorts, with excellent snow conditions, excellent customer service, and breathtaking scenery. Are is Sweden’s most popular ski resort, located near the Norwegian border. Thanks to three ski areas, there is an irresistible range of runs to try, with beautiful mountains and forests as your backdrop.

Duved has the best carving slopes in the region, while Are Village has the resort’s highest point and a variety of off-piste options. Bjornen, the final location, is geared toward families and beginners, with various smaller slopes to help them gain trust. If you are a beginner at skiing or snowboarding, try Sweden for your first time on the slopes.

Ski resorts in Sweden
Vemdalen is situated further north than Are, with 49 kilometres of direct skiing, 58 pistes, and a range of options above and below treeline. Vemdalen and Bjornike are two ski resorts that share a lift ticket. The terrain is of high quality, and the Swedish National Championships have previously been held here. It’s a perfect place for beginners and intermediates to improve their skills, with lessons in cross-country and telemarked skiing provided by many ski instructors on-site. The Bjornrike town and the smaller Klovsjo and Storhogna resorts are all included in the lift pass, providing a diverse range of runs.

Vemdalen’s ski season
The season runs from November to May, with runs on both sides of the nearby valley, ensuring a balanced mix of above and below treeline skiing. The resort can expect heavy snowfall, with snowmaking equipment available on approximately half of the terrain.

Are’s ski season
From November to May, the resort offers 93 kilometres of downhill skiing, 98 pistes, and excellent snow coverage due to the country’s cold climate, with snowmaking equipment available if appropriate.

Lift passes for ski resorts in Sweden
Ski passes in Are vary depending on when you fly, and buying ahead of time will save you money. The resort has 50 ski lifts, making it easy for visitors to experience what it has to offer. Vemdalen has a total of 35 lifts, all of which can be used with a ski pass. As part of the MySkiStar programme, the pass also comes with a range of discounts. Discounts on online transactions and free Wi-Fi are included.

Après ski in Sweden
Sweden’s nightlife is a world away from that of the larger ski countries, with an infectious party atmosphere. Travellers in Are should unwind at the Timmerstugan Pub before heading to the Bygget Nightclub. The Anorak, which serves delicious local dishes, is one of the many restaurants in Vemdalen that visitors can enjoy. Hotels often hold events with live music.

Activities for non-skiers in Sweden
If you want to get away from the slopes for a day or two, try husky dog sledding, Icelandic pony treks, snowmobiling, or go to the sauna and relax.

Ski accommodation in Sweden
Beautiful hotels with spectacular views of the slopes can be found in both resorts in Sweden. Are offers several lodging options to accommodate all budgets and styles of visitors, including Holiday Club. The ski-in, ski-out Hotel Tott is situated in the heart of town.
