The best high altitude ski resorts in France to invest in

The French Alps tend to be where most Europeans head to for their ski and snowboard fix. It’s convenient to get too, but more than that, the French Alps offers superb skiing and some resorts are open during the summer months too. Ski property for sale in the French Alps lure overseas buyers from all corners of the world. Ski apartments and chalets are as popular as ever and sales are increasing as buyers look for a solid investment. Although ski sports can be costly, they are becoming more popular as keen skiers like the thrill and adrenalin rush the snowy slopes offer.

The high altitude resorts are the favourite to invest in, as snow assured slopes offer skiing and snowboarding from the end of November until early May. This is music to the investor’s ears as the long winter ski season will bring in profitable returns. The high altitude resorts from 1,800 metres and above are the resorts to take a close look at. In particular Tignes and Val d’Isère (L’Espace Killy), Chamonix (Evasion Mont Blanc Massif) and Alpe d’Huez (Grandes Rousses Massif).

What ski resorts should you be looking at for investment?

Tignes – is one of the best ski areas in Europe, varied slopes and its own glacier provides excellent skiing and snowboarding conditions. Luxury five bedroom duplex apartments are on offer for £2,035,886 they offer large living spaces with the ultimate in luxury. Four bedroom chalets are currently for sale from £2,012,810 which offer superb ski-in ski-out, ideal for those who want to be able to ski to their own front door. Val d’Isère – is an exclusive ski resort and perhaps the most expensive ski resort in the French Alps. Three bedroom apartments are for sale from £1,147,630 and are close to the centre of the village. Luxury ski chalets will cost a pretty penny but they are worth it, you can invest in a seven bedroom and seven bathroom chalet for £8,079,333 sounds a hefty price tag, but this could be turned in to a very lucrative business. Extras include: a large heated indoor swimming pool, a Turkish bath, sauna, jacuzzi, treatment rooms, an indoor garden with glass bridge and a dedicated bar and relaxation area. An atrium garden and a private lift direct from the underground parking.

Chamonix – is an upmarket resort and the property prices reflect this. Currently prices for a two bedroom apartment are available from under £825,000 with decent size internal floor space. The ski lift is just 300 metres from these properties and you can easily walk to a selection of shops, bars, restaurants and local amenities. A four bedroom chalet is available from £1,312,507 it’s large and ideal for families or groups of friends. There is a garage, a cellar and ski locker, the basement space can be used as a cinema room or games room or you could install your own spa.

Alpe d’Huez – will fit most budgets for affordable and excellent value ski apartments. This is an upcoming resort and one to consider investing in. One bedroom apartments are for sale from £287,933 and it’s a great way to start on the ski property ladder. There is access to a hammam, sauna and swimming pool.

Invest in a ski property either for personal use, to let out when not using yourself or for a lucrative business. Some of the ski resorts are a winter and summer destination and can be used year round. Its food for thought!
