Ski Holidays Increase By 29%

Following the recent announcement that travel restrictions are been simplified, ski holidays increased by 29% say travel agents. Expensive PCR testing for fully vaccinated travellers will be eliminated. Leading travel agencies has seen an increase in package holiday bookings. According to firms, ski package bookings increased by 29% week over week.

The surge in bookings as part of a 52% increase in all types of vacation bookings in the three days after the announcement (17-20 September), compared to the same three days the week before. Package holiday searches surged by more than 37% over the same period, indicating that there is a strong desire to no longer have to “staycation” but to leave the UK when able to do so safely and efficiently. French Alps ski holidays are a firm favourite.

Last week saw a boost in ski holiday bookings
Last week was the busiest week for both package and flight-only reservations on lastminute.com so far this year. Following the news, flight-only bookings increased by 43% compared to the previous week, the business said in a statement, adding that the reduced traffic light requirements for travel from England starting on October 4 were boosting confidence.

According to ski travel agencies, bookings for the coming winter have been exceptionally high, with a combination of held-over bookings from previous winters and new interest as travel has begun to re-open. They have warned of possible limited availability during peak periods like New Year and February half-term. The increase in bookings was hailed as unsurprising.
