The ski resort of Chréa is just 70 km from the capital of Algeria, Algiers. Chréa is most known by the locals for its important history to the country, but to foreigners, it’s most known for its ski resort and nature reserve. The locals and foreigners alike love this ski resort where children play for hours throwing snowballs at each other. Whilst the ski resort isn’t bustling it does get busy but, not overcrowded. Skiing, snowboarding and sleighing are popular with everyone here and whilst they are taking part in these activities’ they can take in the breathtaking scenery. Sightseeing in Algeria

Is diverse with its beautiful coastline and Roman sites at Timgad and Djemila. If you enjoy history you must visit both sites which depict intact Roman towns in their full glory. There are also Roman ruins in Tipaza which was once part of the Roman Empire, it’s found on the Algerian coastline. If you visit Algiers, you can see the imposing landmarks from the Ottoman era such as The Ketchaoua Mosque which was built in the 17th century. This landmark is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Casbah of Algiers is the traditional quarter and is a maze of stairways, narrow winding streets and famous landmarks. The Ketchaoua Mosque is also found here.

Another must-see is the Neo-Byzantine basilica Notre Dame d’Afrique – Our Lady of Africa, which was completed in 1872. It was built under French colonial rule and its distinguishing features include its large silver dome and its beautiful mosaics.
